Resolved Question: APBT dog insurance needed? 28 Jul 2010, 9:49 pm
I own an APBT, and everybody says that i NEED insurance on her… But i thought that you only needed insurance on a dog if they were on a dangerous dogs list, or if where you lived was affected by BSL?I live in Pickaway county Ohio…its not affected by BSL, but people say that you need insurance if you own a high risk breed is this true? Do i have to pay insurance on her?@Rayven Thanks for the link! =)@ casey I don’t own an “unpredictable dangerous dog” Just because she’s a pittie don’t mean shes unpredictable and dangerous…

Resolved Question: How much does your dog insurance cost you per month? 7 Jul 2010, 1:19 pm
How much do you pay per month and what cover do you have/who with? What breed of dog is it for and how old are they? Do you know what your excess if?The reason I ask is I’m trying to get a good idea of how much I would have to set aside per month if I take the plunge and get a dog. I know insurance varies, but I’m trying to figure out an average
Thanks,AnnaPS I know there are lots of other costs involved in dog ownership, and believe me I already have a spreadsheet full of maximum, minimum and average costs for all sorts of things, even petrol to drive to the local woods for walks!
Resolved Question: Dog Insurance – Existing Condition? 7 Jul 2010, 8:52 am
My 9month old British Bulldog puppy has bad joints and hips and limps quite a lot. I know this is due to the breed that she is, and I never expected a perfectly heathy dog. It costs us £36 each visit to see the vet and get some anti-inflammatories for her legs.We already have insurance for her with a company called Animal Friends Insurance. I rang our insurance up to see if we would be covered for the medication and they said she will be covered up to £4000 for the medication for the duration of the year (till March 2011 when the insurace expires). She then explained that next time we insure her, she will not be covered for this condition.I understand the theory of this but is there any insurance out there that will insure you and pay out for expenses on an existing condition because I think this is going to be a lifetime condition for her. She isnt even 1 yet and it upsets me so much to see her struggling to walk
Thanks, any help will be great!! xHi John, Thanks for this advise, I’ll definatley give it a go. Where do I get glucosamine pills from? Thanks again! NinaHi Lorriane, Thanks for your answer. I didnt know about this lifetime cover. I may well, pay for her tratment this year then and get the lifetime cover next march when it expires. I havent contacted the breeder but that is probably worth doing. I love her to bits and would change her for the world but it breaks my heart when her leg gives way. The vet said her bone doesnt fit into the socket properly and so it pops out ever so often and she is in no pain, its just uncomfortable for her. She doesnt whine or cry but it cant be nice for her but now she has developed a slight limp on her front leg so she is walking round like a little old lady. It flares up every so often, we have been resting her for the past week but she was playing with my sisters dog last night and the running about must have flared it up again!
Thanks again!
